Today I had a potential client ask me,
"What Inspires me?"
(I'm assuming he meant from a photography perspective)
Somehow I wasn't too prepared for the question *still a great question no doubt* It was only after the meeting that I managed to process those thoughts
I was stuck in between thoughts of probably millions of images filtering through a corner of my mind *think Matrix style* and wanting to dig deep and ask myself honestly "yeah what does inspire me?"
I didn't know where to start actually. I am inspired by tons of stuff and I might have to somehow categorize them(wedding related, non wedding related) even though they may crossover each other.
My day to day inspiration comes from observing people around me(my wife especially, yes I'm bias), seeing nice light cast upon any landscape/human/subject(preferably warm golden light). Then there's also colours, patterns, negative spaces, layered subjects, lines and shadows that I see or come across. All of these apply to my wedding work too.
Cliche as it sounds, my couples inspire me!(Choose them wisely)
There's nothing more heart warming/satisfying to a photographer than to see couples enjoy and fall in love with their wedding photos. Knowing that my couples have full confidence in me to do a great job for them pushes me to want to do better and make better images each time.
Getting that honest moment shot during the day, soaking in the happy atmosphere of wedding, capturing love from the couple, their families and close friends makes me happy!
Look, at the end of the day I know that the wedding day itself doesn't make the Marriage but in my own way I'd like to think/hope/wish that being able to capture great images for a couple's wedding day could be a good start?
